Dear Beth...so good to hear of your safe arrival. It will take a few days for the jet lag to clear. Try to be aware that your moods and perceptions are going to be on a bit of a roller coaster for a few days. So, in addition to all the different sights and smells and flavors and sounds and being away from familiar touchstones like your pillow, your blanket, bed, neighborhood, friends, family, etc., you should have at least a slight tendency towards mild to severe insanity.
Be encouraged to do all the dumb touristy things. Open a Michelin guide or any of a number of free guides that are usually available in foreign cities and make a point of visiting all the sites they present. Even the seemingly dumb ones. Or those of completely no interest.
Use the busses. Find the undergrounds.
Just be sure you are moving and mixing it up with the new environment.
And be sure and 'call your mum' a lot. And 'your dah.'
Love...Uncle Joe
